Miami County authorities investigating possible homicide

KRT

The Miami County sheriff’s office said Saturday that it was investigating as a possible homicide the apparent shooting death of a 56-year-old man in rural Spring Hill.

According to authorities, a man approached deputies in the sheriff’s office parking lot early Saturday afternoon and told them that his friend, who was with him, had shot someone. The deputies determined that the 52-year-old suspect had outstanding warrants in Johnson County. Upon his arrest, he was found to have a handgun in his possession.

Deputies went to a residence on West 220th Street and found a man dead of a possible gunshot.

The suspect is in custody. Names will not be released until next of kin are notified, the sheriff’s office said.
