Change of venue denied in eastern Jackson County sodomy case
A Jackson County judge on Friday denied a change of venue sought by a former physician charged with eight counts of statutory sodomy.
Joseph T. Mackey of Lee’s Summit is accused of molesting a boy for years, starting when the boy was 14.
Mackey formerly had a medical office in Blue Springs, volunteered with the Boy Scouts and served as a team doctor for Blue Springs School District high school athletic teams. He has had no affiliation with the Scouts or school district since 2011.
