Man faces charges in New Year’s traffic accident that left woman in critical condition
A man accused of walking away from a New Year’s traffic accident that left a woman in critical condition faces felony charges, according to Jackson County prosecutors.
Jestin L. Waterhouse, 35, is charged with second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
The accident occurred about 3 a.m. Friday when a white Chevrolet Monte Carlo crashed into a building near Independence and Elmwood avenues, according to court records. Police found a woman in the vehicle unconscious. She remained in critical condition Wednesday, prosecutors said.
Witnesses told police that the driver walked away from the crash. Prosecutors said Waterhouse was identified as the driver after police found a library card in the car.
