Charge filed in Northland credit union robbery
A 54-year-old Leavenworth man has been charged with the Saturday morning robbery of a Kansas City, North, credit union.
Kevin Murphy was arrested by Kansas City police about 20 minutes after the holdup of the CommunityAmerica Credit Union at 8450 N. Flintlock Road.
As he was changing into jail clothing, a bundle of money — the exact amount taken in the robbery — fell out of his street clothes, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court.
He later admitted to investigators that he had robbed the credit union because he recently had been laid off and needed money, according to the allegations contained in court documents.
