KC police officer shoots at suspects, and chase leads to Kansas

A Kansas City police officer fired at a suspect vehicle early Sunday after the driver tried to run him over, police said.

The incident began at 4:26 a.m. near 27th Street and Brooklyn Avenue. Officers saw an SUV run a red light at high speed. Police tried to stop the vehicle at 31st Street and Brooklyn, but the driver refused to stop. At 31st Street and Park Avenue, the driver drove toward an officer, who fired his weapon.

A pursuit led to Kansas City, Kan., where stop sticks were used at 4:43 a.m. near North 63rd Street and May Lane.

Four suspects were arrested. Police said drugs and weapons were confiscated.

No one was injured in the gunfire, but one officer was injured at the scene of the arrest.
