Murder suspect faces illegal gun charge
A Kansas City homicide suspect has been charged with illegally possessing a firearm.
A federal grand jury in Kansas City, Kan., on Wednesday indicted Luis Murillo-Rosales on a charge of possession of a firearm by someone in the United States illegally.
Murillo-Rosales, 25, is jailed on Jackson County Circuit Court charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the May 25 death of Ludy Cruz, who was shot outside the Smuggler's Inn near Interstate 435 south of the Missouri River.
After the shooting, investigators searched a Kansas City, Kan., residence where Murillo-Rosales was living and found a 9mm handgun allegedly used to kill Cruz, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
