Man sentenced for 2013 Kansas City homicide
A 27-year-old Kansas City man was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison for the July 2013 killing of another Kansas City man, Jackson County prosecutors said.
Willie J. Gibson Jr. was sentenced in Jackson County Circuit Court, where a jury last month found him guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old James Jackson.
Gibson was also found guilty of attempted robbery and armed criminal action.
Jackson was shot when Gibson and two other men tried to rob him near 20th Street and Denver Avenue.
