Shooting, carjacking and traffic crash linked in southeast KC
Kansas City police are investigating the apparent connection between a shooting, carjacking and traffic crash in southeast Kansas City early Tuesday.
Police said the incident began around 6 a.m. in the area of Bannister Road and Blue Ridge Boulevard and left several hundred people without power after a vehicle crashed into a power pole.
Police were initially called to a reported shooting near Bannister and Blue Ridge. Officers were then notified of a carjacking near 92nd and Marsh Avenue.
They found a male shooting victim at Bannister and Blue Ridge. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe that the man was shot at the scene of the carjacking on Marsh.
A vehicle involved in the incident struck a power pole along Bannister between Blue Ridge and Hillcrest Road.
“Investigators are presently sifting through a conflicting chain of events to actually determine what happened,” a police spokeswoman said.
