One person in critical condition after shots fired at ATA bus
A female victim was in critical but stable condition at a hospital after being struck by shots fired into an ATA bus in Kansas City on Tuesday evening.
The incident happened about 5:35 p.m. near 39th Street and South Benton Avenue. Police were canvassing an area between Agnes and Prospect avenues.
Police believe there were at least nine shots fired. There were no initial reports of other injuries.
The bus was traveling on 39th Street. The bullet damage was to the right side of the bus.
Police were seeking a shooter who is believed to have fled the scene. Several witnesses on the bus were taken to police headquarters for debriefing.
