KC police investigate recording of sexual assault posted to Facebook
Kansas City police are investigating allegations that two teenage boys recorded themselves sexually assaulting a teenage girl and temporarily posted the video on a social media website.
The assault reportedly took place late Saturday evening at a hotel near Westport. The teen males met the 16-year-old victim earlier that evening at a pool hall. A friend of the victim saw the recording posted on Facebook and alerted police.
The police department’s crimes against children unit is investigating. No arrests have been made.
The friend told police she noticed a conversation about the video, which one of the boys allegedly posted. The video showed him and another male in what appeared to be a bedroom with the victim.
According to a police report, the video showed the girl on a bed, naked from the waist down. Her shirt had been pulled up, exposing her bra and breasts. She appeared to be unconscious. One boy recorded the other one fondling the girl.
The friend who reported the incident told police she was unable to tell if the victim was raped during the recording.
The friend said she also knew the two males in the recording, and she took a screenshot of the video with her phone as evidence of the incident.
