DNA links Kansas City man to 2012 assault and rape

DNA testing has linked a Kansas City man to the 2012 sexual assault of a woman near 39th and Southwest Trafficway, Jackson County prosecutors announced Monday.

They charged Justin Simon, 30, with second-degree robbery, two counts of forcible rape and three counts of forcible sodomy in the June 2012 attack.

According to court records, Simon and another man offered to give the woman a ride home after she left a bar. The men walked her to an apartment where their car was located. At the building, Simon punched the woman and took her to an apartment where both men sexually assaulted her, according to court records.
