Kansas City police were investigating a shooting death that occurred Thursday afternoon in the 8200 block of Troost Avenue.

Officers responded to a reported shooting about 2:10 p.m. and found a man with a gunshot wound. He died at the scene. Witnesses told investigators they saw two or three people fleeing from the area.

No other details, including the victim’s name, were released.

It was the city’s 104th homicide of 2015 and the city’s seventh since Sunday.

“As the homicide count rises, I remain hopeful our community will come together to address the many social issues that negatively impact so many,” said Police Chief Darryl Forté. “As a community, when do we say enough is enough and how might we make our city safer than it has ever been?”
