A gunman tried to hold up a Taco Bell in northeast Kansas City on Sunday after ordering a burrito, but he ended up running off without any money or food.

Police said the customer walked into the restaurant in the 5900 block of Independence Avenue about 7:30 p.m. and ordered a burrito that cost about $1.10. The man gave the clerk $1.06, then quickly brandished a silver handgun and demanded money.

The clerk refused to hand over cash and slammed the cash register shut, police said.

The customer became frustrated and left without any cash or his burrito.

Police did not have a detailed description of the customer.
