Bank robber is sentenced to more than 12 years in prison

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced a Missouri man to more than 12 years in federal prison for his role in robbing an Overland Park bank in 2014.

Allen J. Williams, 25, of Kansas City, pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery and one count of using a firearm during a robbery.

He admitted that on Feb. 27, 2014, he and two co-defendants robbed the Inter-State Federal Savings at 8620 Metcalf Ave. They entered the bank and held employees at gunpoint before fleeing with stolen money.

U.S. District Judge Kathryn Vratil imposed Williams’ 155-month sentence in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan.

Two others already have been sentenced for their roles in the robbery. Alvin J. Williams, 25, of Kansas City, twin brother of Allen Williams, received a 114-month sentence. Randy A. Cornelius, 22, of Kansas City, received a 57-month sentence.
