Shots are fired at KC police officers during chase

Kansas City police arrested four people Tuesday after a high-speed pursuit that ended in Kansas City, Kan.

The incident reportedly began just before 11 a.m. during an attempted home burglary near 58th Street and Kenwood Avenue in Kansas City. Police Sgt. Kevin Kilkenny said officers saw people leaving the back of the house and began pursuit. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the occupants fired several gunshots at the officers at 55th and Charlotte streets, police said.

None of the officers was hurt, but a patrol car was hit at least twice, Kilkenny said.

The chase continued into Kansas City, Kan. It ended near Seventh Street and Sunshine Road when the car crashed into a semitrailer. Arrests were made by Kansas City police tactical officers.
