A Kansas City man arrested with a trunkload of methamphetamine after a 100-mph chase was sentenced Monday to federal prison.

A judge in Topeka sentenced 22-year-old Miguel Torres to 47 months in prison.

Torres previously pleaded guilty to possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over the car Torres was driving March 14 on Interstate 70. The ensuing chase reached 111 mph before Torres stopped, according to federal prosecutors.

Troopers found 22 pounds of methamphetamine in the car’s trunk. Investigators later learned that Torres had been paid $6,000 to bring the drugs from California to the Kansas City area.
