Investigators await autopsy to provide details of body found in Independence
Independence police said Monday they are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death for a person whose body was found Sunday in woods near Missouri 291 and Truman Road.
A person searching for deer antlers spotted the body and called police at 2:42 p.m. The body had extensive decomposition, said Officer Tom Gentry, a police spokesman.
The autopsy will help identify the remains and provide other details for investigators, Gentry said.
