Kansas City police investigate shooting death in street

Kansas City police found the body of a man in the street after getting a report of shots fired at 57th and Oak Streets on Sunday morning.

The call of an outside disturbance came in at 2:36 a.m. Several people reported hearing numerous shots and then seeing a vehicle drive away at a high rate of speed. A burned vehicle was found a short distance away but police did not know if it was connected to the shooting.

“Another senseless homicide,” Police Chief Darryl Forté said on Twitter. “On-going investigation.”
