KC police seek leads in rape of high school student

Kansas City police on Friday released a detailed description of the man who raped a teenager last week.

The 18-year-old victim has just gotten off of her school bus last Friday afternoon near 43rd Street and Cleveland Avenue when the man dragged her into a vacant lot and raped her, police said.

She described him as a black man in his mid-20s who is 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He has a dark complexion with full lips, straight clean teeth, a low hair line and short forehead. He also had short fingernails and smelled of cigarette smoke.

He wore a black Carhartt coat and dark blue jeans and had a hood on over his head.

Police ask anyone who can help identify the attacker to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
