Kansas City teen reports she was raped after leaving school bus
Kansas City police are investigating a Kansas City high school student’s report of being raped by a stranger after leaving her school bus.
The 18-year-old student told police that she had just left the bus near 43rd Street and Cleveland Avenue just before 3 p.m. Dec. 5 when she noticed a man walking behind her.
She heard footsteps getting closer before the man grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground in a field in the 4200 block of Cleveland, according to police reports.
“You better not scream or I’ll kill you,” he said, according to her account.
The man picked her up and moved her farther into the field near a fence, where he grabbed her around the neck, removed some of her clothing and raped her, according to the reports.
The attacker fled on foot. The victim was taken to a hospital.
A detailed description of the attacker was not available.
