Charges filed in Overland Park traffic crash that killed toddler
A 39-year-old Shawnee man was charged Monday in a weekend traffic crash in Overland Park that killed a 17-month-old girl.
Johnson County prosecutors charged Boyd Allen Chism with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Addilynn R. Poole.
The charges allege that Chism was driving recklessly at the time of the three-vehicle crash.
Addilyn’s 20-year-old mother and an 8-year-old relative were injured. Chism also was charged with two counts of aggravated battery in connection with their injuries.
The wreck occurred just before 3 p.m. Saturday at 175th Street and Pflumm Road, according to Overland Park police.
A judge set Chism’s bond at $500,000. His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday in Johnson County District Court.
