Independence police warn of phone threats

Independence police are warning of threatening phone calls received recently by residents, businesses and the police department itself.

Police said the calls threatening bodily harm have come from two numbers with the California area code 661, and they know of no actions taken in regards to the threats. People who have received the calls report that the name SKYPE comes up on caller ID.

If people receive such calls they can contact Independence police at 816-325-7300 or their local police department if they live elsewhere. Anyone with information about the identity of the caller is asked to call the Independence police investigations unit at 816-325-7330.
