Victim of fatal Olathe traffic crash identified

Olathe police on Monday identified the victim of a Thanksgiving morning fatal traffic crash as 31-year-old Idir Lounes.

Lounes, of Olathe, was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 159th Street and Old U.S. 56.

The driver of the other vehicle, Souksavanh Chamnongchith, 32, of Gardner, was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the 3 a.m. collision, according to court documents filed in Johnson County District Court.

Prosecutors charged Chamnongchith with involuntary manslaughter. He made his first court appearance Monday. His bond is set at $100,000.
