Man charged with DUI and involuntary manslaughter if fatal wreck
A man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence following a fatal south Johnson County traffic accident early Thursday.
Authorities charged Souksavanh Chamnongchith, 32, following the accident at 3 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 56 and 159th Street.
A 31-year-old man driving north on U.S. 56 died after his vehicle was struck by another traveling west on 159th Street, according to the Olathe police department. Authorities have not yet publicly identified that man.
Bond for Chamnongchith has been set at $100,000. He remained in custody Friday, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
