Two dead after shooting at Blue Springs home

Blue Springs police responding to a disturbance call about 7:30 a.m. arrived in time to hear gunshots but not in time to prevent two deaths.

When officers entered the home on Northeast 23rd Street, they found both people dead inside, said Sgt. Joe Fanara, a department spokesman.

A third person who had been in the home at the time made it out safely. That person did not witness the shooting, Fanara said.

Though police have not officially labeled the shooting a murder-suicide, Fanara said police have launched a death investigation with no suspects at large.

The home in a well-to-do neighborhood north of Duncan Road has a Grain Valley mailing address but lies within Blue Springs city limits, Fanara said.
