De Soto man pleads guilty in murder of Prairie Village man
A 32-year-old De Soto man pleaded guilty Tuesday to first-degree murder in the 2013 killing of a 21-year-old Prairie Village man.
Dustin Adam Maynard admitted that he stabbed and strangled Jordan MacDonald, whose partially burned body was found in a grassy area near Maynard’s apartment on Oct. 30, 2013.
The night before MacDonald’s body was found, the two men were at a De Soto bar. Maynard told police that MacDonald had given him a ride home.
Investigators later found blood on the back door handle of Maynard’s apartment that matched MacDonald’s DNA. Additional blood evidence linked to MacDonald was found in Maynard’s kitchen sink and on one of his shoes, according to previous testimony.
Maynard later admitted to police that he had used a can of lighter fluid to burn MacDonald’s body. A container of lighter fluid was later recovered by police from the back porch of his apartment.
His sentencing has been set for Dec. 11.
