Big methamphetamine haul leads to prison for KCK man
A Kansas City, Kan., man arrested last year after smuggling 13 pounds of methamphetamine was sentenced Monday to 30 years in federal prison.
Jesus Octavio Valdez-Aguirre, 25, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan., where he previously pleaded guilty to being part of a drug trafficking conspiracy.
According to court documents, the meth was made in Mexico then smuggled into California before being brought to the Kansas City area.
Valdez-Aguirre was arrested in Sept. 2014, after undercover officers watched him and another person deliver 13 pounds of the drug in a van.
