Homicide victim was 47-year-old Independence woman

Independence police on Sunday evening identified the victim of the city’s latest homicide as Michelle R. Harrelson, 47, of Independence.

Police also said they have one person in custody on unrelated charges.

Police responded to a house in the 1300 block of E. Mechanic Street about 5:50 p.m. Saturday. They remained at the house for several hours and about midnight said they were investigating a homicide.
