Kansas City police identify man killed in standoff
Kansas City police fatally shot a man who pointed a rifle at officers during a standoff Sunday morning at a home in the 2300 block of Lawndale Avenue.
On Monday, police identified the man as Isaac Sims, 26, of Kansas City. Officers were originally called to the home about 11:40 a.m. after Sims allegedly fired a handgun and rifle at his father and a neighbor, neither of whom were injured. Officers reported hearing several gunshots from inside the residence, and a standoff ensured.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., police said officers shot them the man after he pointed a rifle at them while he exited the back door. He was pronounced dead a short time later. The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, normal procedure in all officer involved shootings.
