Kansas City police are investigating two shootings reported early Tuesday afternoon.

The first happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Monroe Avenue. Witnesses told police that someone in a passing vehicle fired multiple shots into a house, said Capt. Ty Grant, a police spokesman. A woman in her 20s was taken to a hospital in critical condition with a wound to her abdomen, he said. No one had been arrested.

The second shooting happened at 37th Street and Woodland Avenue and apparently involved a dispute between relatives, police said. A man sustained a leg wound.

The two scenes are about 18 blocks apart.
