Kansas City police standoff ends with man dead in house
Kansas City police said Sunday evening that a man who barricaded himself in an East Side house was dead after a long standoff.
Police responded to the home in the 2300 block of Lawndale Avenue, near Blue Valley Park, about 11:40 a.m. after reports of shots fired in the area.
Police declared the situation a standoff at 12:15 p.m.
Police released few details about the incident, but Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forte tweeted earlier that a police negotiator was being summoned to assist.
