Smithville man admits guilt in child porn case
A 19-year-old Smithville man previously convicted of child molestation pleaded guilty Thursday to receiving child pornography over the Internet.
As part of a plea agreement in U.S. District Court in Kansas City for Jacob A. Arnold, attorneys will recommend a sentence of between 10 and 15 years in prison without parole.
The federal sentence will run concurrently with a 15-year state prison sentence Arnold received after pleading guilty in Clay County to a count of child molestation.
According to federal prosecutors, a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led authorities to Arnold. Computers, cameras and a cellphone found during a search warrant of his house contained about 170 videos and 1,600 images of child pornography, prosecutors said.
