Two carjacking suspects led Kansas City police on a chase that ended early Thursday when the stolen pickup truck crashed into an Overland Park duplex.

The carjacking victim told police that he had gone to the Independence Avenue and Maple Street area to pick up a prostitute about 1 a.m. Thursday, police said.

He picked up a 21-year-old man and 33-year-old woman who later forced him from his Chevrolet Silverado at gunpoint. After seeing the truck nearby, police pursued it until it crashed into the duplex near 79th Street and Antioch Road.

One suspect hid in a bedroom while asking the residents who had been sleeping there not to tell police where he was, according to media reports. Instead, they pointed police to him. Officers found the woman hiding between houses, police said.

The man had been released from prison in February after serving time on robbery and unlawful use of a weapon charges, records show.
