Carjacker is arrested after chase in Kansas City

A driver fleeing from police Friday carjacked a second vehicle before being caught and arrested.

Officers with the Jackson County Drug Task Force began pursuing a car just before 2 p.m. near 47th Street and Elmwood Avenue.

A police helicopter began following the vehicle while officers on the ground backed off.

The man being pursued stopped and got out of his vehicle outside a market at 27th Street and Cleveland Avenue, then took a car from a woman. He drove off in her car before he was taken into custody in the 3200 block of College Avenue.

No injuries were reported.
