Overland Park police investigating attempted ATM theft

A person questioned about Friday morning’s attempted theft of an ATM in Overland Park has been released from custody, and police said they are continuing to investigate.

The attempted theft was reported just before 6 a.m. at the Walgreens at 126th Street and Pflumm Road. Police said that several thieves attempted to drag the machine out of the store but were unsuccessful.

A white van used in the attempt later was found abandoned near 121st Street and Pflumm. Police said the van belonged to a local business and had been stolen from a nearby apartment complex.
