Johnson County jail death due to ethanol withdrawal
Autopsy results of an Overland Park man who died while in the custody of the Johnson County jail indicate he was a victim of acute ethanol withdrawal, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday.
Matthew C. Worsham, 30, was found unconscious in his cell on Aug. 3. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Worsham was in the second day of a 48-hour sentence for driving under the influence.
The KBI said the Johnson County District Attorney’s office concluded there was insufficient evidence for criminal charges against the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
