Wreck closes part of U.S. 71, sends three to hospital

Several people were injured during a rush-hour wreck Friday afternoon on U.S. 71 at 59th Street.

The multi-vehicle collision forced police to close the northbound lanes.

A Kansas City police dispatcher said three people were injured, including one who was in critical condition. All three were taken to a hospital.

Police were on the scene at 6 a.m. but had not yet determined the cause of the crash.
