Police investigate shooting of teenage girl in Shawnee
Police were investigating a shooting early Thursday at a Shawnee apartment complex that wounded a 16-year-old girl.
Officers responded to the shooting about 1:30 a.m. in a townhome in the Fox Run apartment complex in the 7600 block of Goddard Street.
The girl was shot in the leg. She was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released, said Maj. Dan Tennis, a Shawnee police spokesman.
Thursday afternoon, police said they were seeking a 19-year-old man to talk to about the incident. Andrew “Drew” Valentino Williams may have been wounded in the shooting, police said.
He is white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 133 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and tattoos above his knuckles on both hands.
He has previously lived in Bonner Springs and Kansas City, Kan.
The shooting occurred while a group of about five teenagers had gathered at the townhome. Some were on the lower level of the residence, while others were outside. There were adults upstairs, Tennis said.
The gunman fled on foot before police arrived. The victim knows the shooter, Tennis said.
Anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Williams is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 or Shawnee police at 913-631-2150.
