Man shot in KC on the way to work flags down school bus for help

A city employee on his way to work Wednesday morning flagged down a school bus for help after he was critically injured in a shooting.

The victim told police that just before 7 a.m. he was driving in the area of 37th Street and Kensington Avenue when he saw a group of men in Seven Oaks Park.

The victim said he heard gunfire and then realized that he had been shot. The victim drove to 41st Street and Spruce Avenue, where he flagged down a school bus, according to police.

Emergency workers took the victim to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

Although the victim works for the city, he was not on duty or driving a city vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
