KC woman accused of striking a police officer with a car
Prosecutors on Sunday charged a Kansas City woman with second degree assault on a law enforcement officer after she allegedly struck a police officer with a car on Saturday night.
Mikayla McNeal, 21, also has been charged with armed criminal action and resisting arrest.
According to court records, officers stopped a Nissan Maxima in the 2500 block of Montgall Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. The car’s temporary permit, which had expired in July, appeared to have been altered.
During the stop one of the officers saw what appeared to be a large amount of marijuana inside the car. The driver then locked the doors and started the car, police said, accelerating it toward an officer before striking him with it and throwing him onto the car’s hood. Police later tracked the driver to a residence in the 2400 block of Lister Avenue and arrested her.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $100,000.
