KCK police shoot, kill sword-wielding man
Kansas City, Kan., police shot and killed a man in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue Saturday night after he charged them with a sword.
Police responded to an armed disturbance call about 10 p.m. They made contact with a male in his 50s who was armed with a sword.
An officer ordered the man to drop the sword but said he refused and charged at the officer. The officer shot the man and he died of his injuries at the scene.
The man’s name will not be released until his family is notified. The officer was not injured.
The incident is under investigation.
