KC man gets 20-year term in killing over marijuana

A Kansas City man received a 20-year prison sentence Friday for the January killing of a man who had stolen marijuana from him.

Marcus T. Kennedy, 44, pleaded guilty in September to second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Donald Donato, 21, of Kansas City.

Donato was shot to death Jan. 7 on a sidewalk near the Price Chopper at 5800 Wilson Road. He had just stolen marijuana from Kennedy, according to court records.
