Man dies in shootout with drive-by gunman in Kansas City, Kan.
A 22-year-old man died at a hospital early Thursday after suffering injuries in a shootout with a drive-by gunman in Kansas City, Kan.
Police responded to the shooting about 4:05 a.m. in the 3300 block of Delavan Avenue, which is near Interstate 635 and Kansas 5.
Witnesses told police that a dark-colored sport utility vehicle circled the block several times before someone in the vehicle fired shots at three people standing outside a home.
A 22-year-old man was struck by the gunfire. He also exchanged gunfire with the gunman in the SUV, police said.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he died about two hours later.
Kansas City, Kan., Police Chief Terry Zeigler said the death has been ruled a homicide.
Police distributed a surveillance camera video showing two men who investigators believed might be involved. Moments after the shooting, two men in a navy blue SUV robbed a person at 3200 State Avenue.
