Police investigate a string of robberies across Kansas City on Tuesday
Police are looking for two men involved in a string of robberies in Kansas City on Tuesday.
The crimes began shortly after 3 p.m., when two men walked into the Dollar General store at 11118 Blue Ridge Blvd.
One man, armed with a small, silver-colored handgun, forced an employee to open the cash register and stole an unknown amount of cash, according to police. The other man waited by the door until both left.
Almost two hours later, about 5 p.m., a man in a ski mask robbed the Corner Store at 3605 N. Antioch Rd., more than 22 miles north of the Dollar General. The robber was caught on camera and appeared to be one of the men involved in the earlier robbery, according to police.
About 9 p.m., two men robbed the Subway location at 10401 Blue Ridge Blvd., near the Dollar General robbed earlier in the day. In a repeat of the earlier case, two men entered the store and one, armed with a handgun, robbed the cash register while the second man waited at the door.
Police released images from surveillance video from the three businesses. In each case, one man appeared to wear the same blue hooded shirt with horizontal white stripes. He wore a red shirt underneath, police said, and blue jeans.
The second robber, present in the Dollar General, wore a tan jacket, blue jeans and a beige floppy hat. He appeared to have a moustache and facial hair on his chin. Police believed the same man appeared at the Subway robbery in a different jacket.
Police asked anyone with information about the robberies to to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
