Trial is ordered in Olathe sexual molestation of young woman with special needs
An Olathe transport van driver was ordered Wednesday to stand trial for the alleged sexual molestation of a young woman with special needs.
Terry Mize Curry, 74, waived his preliminary hearing in Johnson County District Court and was bound over for trial on the felony charge of aggravated sexual battery.
The 20-year-old victim was a participant in a program for young adults with special needs operated by the Olathe school district. Curry was a driver for the company that contracted with the school district to provide transportation.
The incident last September was captured on surveillance video, according to previously released court documents.
On the video, Curry can be seen kissing and touching the woman. He can be heard telling her that if anyone found out he would lose his job, she would be taken out of the program and her parents could have him arrested, according to the documents.
The charge says the woman was unable to give consent to sexual contact because of “mental deficiency or disease.”
Curry is scheduled to be back in court Dec. 2.
