Police question man after body is found outside a 7-Eleven in Independence
Independence police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Monday morning outside a convenience store.
Police said a clerk found the body about 2:30 a.m. while taking out the trash at the 7-Eleven at 201 E. U.S. 24, which sits across from William Chrisman High School at the intersection with Noland Road.
The body was near the trash bin on the east side of the store, police said.
The victim, a white man in his late 30s or early 40s, had suffered several wounds, but the manner of death wasn’t clear, said John Syme, Independence police spokesman.
The man’s name has not been released.
Investigators took a a man who was on the scene into custody for questioning, Syme said.
