Man charged in 2012 KC murder
A 27-year-old Kansas City man was charged Wednesday in an October 2012 shooting death in south Kansas City.
Bryant E. Lasley is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.
According to court records, Lasley and another defendant arranged to meet victim Mark Shears for a drug deal. When Shears, 26, drove to meet the defendants in the 10700 block of Greenwood Road, they allegedly robbed him and Lasley allegedly shot him several times.
Robert L. Whitmore was previously charged in the murder. The men were linked to the crime through DNA testing of cigarette butts at the scene. Lasley was also placed at the scene through cellphone records.
