One dead, several injured in shooting and wreck near Ninth and Hardesty in KC
One person was killed and several people, including children, injured in a shooting and vehicle wreck Tuesday night in Kansas City.
The incident was reported about 9 p.m. near Ninth Street and Hardesty Avenue, according to Kansas City police. Officers found one person dead from injuries suffered in a vehicle wreck. Six children in the vehicle were injured.
Those people appeared to have been innocent bystanders to a rolling gunbattle between two other vehicles, said Sgt. Kari Thompson, a spokeswoman for the Police Department. The victims’ vehicle appeared to have been struck by one of the firing vehicles, causing the crash.
One person injured by gunfire was also found at the scene. All of the injured were taken to a hospital.
Police arrested a person near 18th Street and Jackson Avenue in connection with the investigation.
