Employees of a southeast KC McDonald’s beat, chase off would-be robber
The only only thing a would-be robber took after he forced his way into a Kansas City restaurant early Monday was a beating from the employees.
The robbery attempt was reported about 2:15 a.m. at the McDonald’s at 7700 E 87th St.
Employees told police that a man wearing a mask and carrying a pole entered the restaurant and ordered two workers onto the floor.
The man walked behind the counter and confronted a third employee, who fought with him. The employee was struck on the forehead with the pole before the other two employees jumped in to help.
All three then struck the man, knocking him to the floor. He got up, ran outside and fled in a white SUV.
Employees told police that the suspect “should be covered in blood.” The employee struck with the pole declined medical treatment.
