Olathe fire crews rescue family stranded in high water

Fire crews rescued a family early Friday after their vehicle became stranded in high water at Lake Olathe.

The incident was reported just before 1 a.m. in the 600 block of South Lakeshore Drive. The couple and their 2-year-old child were traveling across a low-water bridge below the lake’s dam and became stranded in a powereful current.

Fire crews used a ladder truck to reach the family. They later drove the family to their home, located nearby.

No injuries were reported, according to fire officials.
